The Hand and the Machine

An image of a machine,
made in the age of image-making machines.

There is a striking symmetry in returning to the canvas after years of creative silence, to paint one of humanity’s most extraordinary machines at a moment when generative technology is transforming the very nature of image-making.

The work unfolds through oil and canvas, the hand and eye engaged in countless micro-decisions, each mark an encounter between intention and discovery. In a world of images generated almost instantaneously, the slow intelligence of making remains an expression of something profoundly human.

Even at the frontier of technological intelligence, the human hand continues to imagine, to question, and to create.
